Mike and Barbie Blecher have been cruising sailors for over 40 years. They are also senior PADI Scuba Instructors and Instructor Trainers. In connection with their scuba training activities, they are highly experienced First Aid and CPR Instructors. Mike is a US Merchant Marine Academy graduate and is a licensed Master Mariner.
The course they present is approved by Cal OSHA, Fed OSHA, Fortune 500 corporations and the USCG (approved especially for USCG Merchant Mariners Licensing), as well as many other official agencies. They have taught this course to commercial vessel and other marine operators as well as to general commercial businesses throughout the country.
They developed a special First Aid and CPR course for the yachting community that derives some of its subject matter from their extensive experience aboard cruising sailboats and on dive expeditions--trips that many times took them to very remote and isolated areas of the world where self reliance and self rescue is the order of the day.
They have a special version of their course designed for yacht clubs, junior sailing programs and community sailing centers which has been presented annually to clubs from Santa Barbara to San Diego.
SMWYC is proud to sponsor the presentation of this course on June 2 from 9 to 12:30. Cost is $85, including materials.
